What Is the Orsten-Research Web Book?

The Orsten-Research Web Book is an unusual website in a kind of "book format" presenting results of the long-term Orsten research.

Since 1981, after a period of preparing and sorting of the large material, Klaus Müller hired Dieter Waloszek in 1981 as his assistant and both intensified the research on the Orsten fossils. After becoming university professor in 1995, Dieter continued this research in Ulm together with his workgroup.

In 2004 an international group of researchers, palaeontologists and biologists interested in the Orsten, was formed, called the C.O.R.E. group. This group together with Dieter's workgroup successfully widened the Orsten research until 2016. At least two collaborations with colleagues from Poland and China have successfully continued this research until today.

In all, this led to an exceptional enlargement of the knowledge about the Orsten and its fossils – even to the description of representatives of other groups of animals preserved in this exceptional type of three-dimentional preservation.
